Overview

Multi-Axis Machining

The A-axis adds a fourth rotational axis to the CNC machine’s standard 3 linear axes (X, Y, and Z). This extra axis allows for multi-axis machining, which means the machine can perform complex operations. This versatility enables the production of more intricate and complex parts and components.

Enhanced Precision

With a rotational A-axis, we can manipulate the workpiece from multiple angles and orientations. This capability improves precision and accuracy, especially when working on complex geometries or parts with multiple features. It reduces the need for multiple setups, minimising errors and ensuring tight tolerances.

Complex Geometry

The Tetra 4 axis CNC router machine is an ideal tool for creating parts with intricate and complex geometries. It enables the Tetra 4 axis CNC machine to contour surfaces easily, produce undercuts, and create complex 3D shapes that would be challenging or impossible to achieve with standard 3-axis machining.

Reduced Tool Wear

Multi-axis machining can distribute the cutting load more evenly across the tool, reducing tool wear and prolonging tool life. This can result in lower tool replacement costs and less frequent tool changes during production.

Versatile Tooling

The Tetra CNC router allows for versatile tooling options. Tools can be positioned at various angles, enabling different cutting strategies and tool orientations. This flexibility improves tool life and reduces tool wear, leading to profitability.

Flexibility

With the 4th axis, the Tetra CNC machine can handle a wider variety of materials, including those that require specific angles or contours to be machined, such as aerospace components, medical devices, and other precision parts.

Improved Workflow

Integrating the Tetra 4-axis CNC machine into your workflow allows for better automation and the ability to perform more complex machining tasks with minimal human intervention, leading to a smoother and more streamlined production process.

Separate Control Box

Having the control box integrated into the CNC carries risks such as fire and component failure due to excessive debris contamination.

Warranty

We offer 2 years full parts and labour warranty with all Tetra 4 axis CNC machines. This longer warranty period shows we have greater confidence in our Tetra 4 axis CNC’s durability and quality.

Delivery

Your Tetra 4 axis CNC will be delivered by a curtain side lorry, which will require a forklift.

Installation

One of the Opus engineers will carry out the full installation. All Opus engineers are experienced and go through vigorous in-house training programs throughout their Opus careers.

Training

Machine and software training is fully inclusive with the Tetra 4 Axis CNC and is divided into three sections: machine operation, software, and safety. We customise all training to match individual capabilities.

WHAT DEFINES A 4 AXIS?

The Tetra 4 axis CNC routing machine can move the cutting tool or workpiece in four distinct axes of motion. While traditional 3 axis CNC machines can move along the X, Y, and Z axes, the Tetra 4 axis CNC machine adds rotary or angular axis, typically known as the A axis or C axis.

A Axis - Angular

A significant benefit of the angular A axis on the Tetra CNC machine is its ability to provide multi-axis machining, which allows for intricate and complex workpiece manipulation.

C Axis - Rotational

The rotational C-axis on the Tetra CNC router provides rotational movement around the Z-axis, offering several significant benefits for precision machining and manufacturing.

A/C Axis - Rotational

Rotary devices are also known as a fourth axis. We offer 2 types of rotaries on the Tetra CNC routers; fixed and portable. Rotary devices are perfect for those looking to carve cylindrical pieces of wood for staircases.
